Bottles tipping at a transfer: review the package and interface together
A fall at one point is an event to locate, not automatic proof that the conveyor or the bottle alone is responsible.

Procurement guidance, not a machine setting or laboratory result
Solve the buying question in front of you
Keep bottle drawing, base revision, material lot, filled state and the identified transfer with each observation. Distinguish a repeated package pattern from a change in the same package at one interface or operating event. Use authorised trials to compare the combination and retain good-pack output and damage evidence. Do not specify a universal guide gap, transfer height or conveyor speed from a general photograph.
Identify the exact event and boundary
Map where the bottle first loses its intended orientation and where it is finally found down. Those may be different places. Record the upstream and downstream machines and the relevant transfer identification. A video of the final pile does not establish the initiating event. Collect observations from approved positions without entering the moving line or creating an artificial jam outside the agreed procedure.
Separate a single repeatable tipping point from general congestion, damaged containers or a restart pattern. Retain the package samples and the event time. The commercial question may concern the bottle design, a transfer component, format parts, controls or an upstream condition. Do not choose the purchase category before the evidence shows which boundary needs a specialist review.
Keep the actual bottle revision and state
Provide the drawing, base and body revision, material, supplier and lot. Record the filled or empty state and relevant process conditions supplied by the responsible team. A volume and material name do not fully identify the package. Preserve old and new samples when a lightweighting, base revision or supplier change coincides with the complaint, and avoid describing the new article as unchanged merely because its capacity remains the same.
Link each observed bottle to its material condition and handling history where known. A damaged sample recovered after a jam may not describe its state before the event. Keep that uncertainty explicit. The packaging specialist should identify the appropriate design and material checks for the intended use rather than deriving package acceptance from a generic stability test with no agreed conditions.
Document the interface without prescribing its adjustment
Identify the relevant conveyor, transfer and format components using available drawings and approved records. Include the installed format reference and recent maintenance or changeover. Ask the equipment specialist which measurements are needed and who is qualified to obtain them. This guide is an information checklist, not an instruction to alter levels, guides, drives or guarding.
Where drawings are missing, record the gap and arrange the appropriate review instead of guessing a dimension for the RFQ. Compare the physical configuration with the approved format scope. A compatible upstream machine and a compatible downstream machine do not automatically prove that their joining interface has been confirmed for the actual bottle and production state.
Separate stable flow from production events
Record startup, normal flow, accumulation changes and authorised stops and restarts in the agreed test plan. Keep the event sequence and operator actions. A package that travels successfully in a short uninterrupted run may still leave an untested operating case. Do not extend the conclusion to every speed and format because one demonstration was visually smooth.
Use the same time or quantity boundary when comparing alternatives. Count tipping events, damaged packs, rejects and saleable output without double-counting the same bottle in several loss categories. A reduction in visible falls achieved by a major output reduction should remain visible in the comparison. Keep uncertainty and unmeasured quantities labelled rather than forcing a complete-looking loss balance.
Compare a package change and an equipment change fairly
If both are proposed, identify which factors differ in each trial. Retain the baseline bottle and setup. Where practical, compare the combinations that answer the specific interface question under specialist-approved conditions. Multiple simultaneous changes can demonstrate an overall outcome but do not automatically establish which single change caused it. Write that limitation in the conclusion.
Ask each proposal to state material requirements, format coverage, remaining assumptions and the conditions attached to acceptance. Do not compare a bottle design promise with a conveyor offer on unrelated test bases. Include any consequences for filling, closing, labelling and packing, since a locally improved transfer should not leave the buyer with an unverified interface elsewhere.
Convert the finding into an integration scope
Distinguish package review, service, wear parts, format components, controls, conveyor work and replacement equipment. Identify who owns the boundary between suppliers and who confirms the final arrangement. Include layout, documentation, installation, trial materials and the required production window. An offer naming a transfer system but excluding its integration may leave the actual complaint outside the quoted work.
Request a test protocol and named sign-off owner for the confirmed combination. Keep performance conditions, exclusions and untested formats visible. Third-party equipment examples explain possible categories; they do not prove Allot Tech owns those designs or that their published capabilities apply to an unidentified installation. The actual quotation and responsible specialist must confirm the proposed scope.
Preserve a usable format and recurrence record
After acceptance, store the bottle and interface revisions, approved configuration, representative samples and event comparison. State the checks needed after maintenance, format change or a packaging substitution. Keep operating instructions supplied for the installation as the controlling procedure. A website checklist does not replace those instructions or authorise a new configuration.
If tipping returns, compare the new event against the retained package and operating state before assigning the same cause. Allot Tech can coordinate confirmed project information. The accepted evidence should say which combination was demonstrated and which conditions remain open, providing a clear basis for later service rather than an unsupported promise of universal bottle stability.
Evidence and decision matrix
| Pattern | Record | Scope to review |
|---|---|---|
| One transfer repeatedly involved | Event sequence and interface identity | Local combination |
| Starts after bottle revision | Old and new drawings and samples | Package and interface compatibility |
| Only at restart | Stop history and operator actions | Defined recovery case |
| Fewer falls but lower output | Same interval and good packs | Complete line outcome |
Worked review scenario
Hypothetical review: a lighter bottle and a troublesome transfer
After a bottle revision, falls are observed near a transfer. The team preserves the previous bottle, maps the first event and agrees a package-interface comparison. It records both damage and useful output. The quotation then addresses the confirmed boundary instead of treating either all conveyors or all bottles as defective from one photograph. This is a planning example without a customer or performance claim.
Prepare the request
Bottle
Drawing, base, material, lot, filled state and prior revision.
Interface
Layout, format reference, transfer identity and maintenance record.
Event
Safe observation, timing, production states, counts and sample history.
Decision
Package or equipment options, supplier boundaries, trial and acceptance owner.
Technical reference and its limits
External technical references explain the context. They do not certify an Allot Tech machine or fabric, and their proprietary capabilities are not part of a quotation unless expressly confirmed.
Buyer questions
Does tipping prove the bottle base is wrong?
No. Review the package, interface and event together before assigning cause.
Can a universal guide gap be specified?
The responsible specialist must confirm actual dimensions and configuration.
Is one uninterrupted run enough?
Only the conditions demonstrated are covered; other agreed operating cases may remain open.
What should the quotation include?
Confirmed boundary, integration, material supply, format coverage, trial conditions and sign-off responsibility.
