Filling nozzle dripping after cutoff: establish the event before buying a remedy

A product mark outside the bottle is a symptom; timing and position help determine what the service investigation needs.

Procurement guidance, not a machine setting or laboratory result

Solve the buying question in front of you

Identify whether the observed material is a drop after cutoff, a continuous string, splash during filling or residue transferred later. Record product, package, valve position, approved setup and operating phase. Compare the same conditions before and after authorised intervention, including quantity and finished-package checks. Do not assume a generic suck-back device, a larger fill setting or a replacement seal will suit an unidentified product and filling configuration.

Describe the material movement and its timing

Record when the unwanted product first appears relative to filling, valve closure, bottle movement and later handling. A still photograph of a wet neck cannot distinguish all of these events. Use an approved observation position and retain the affected package. Identify whether the event repeats at one position or occurs across the machine. Keep the symptom separate from a claim that a valve has already been proved defective.

Distinguish drops, strings, splash and transferred residue in the log. If more than one appears, record each rather than forcing all losses into a single category. Describe the commercial consequence: rejects, cleaning, unstable quantity or contamination of an area relevant to later packaging. The responsible product and equipment teams decide the significance; the guide does not authorise product release from visual appearance alone.

Keep product identity with the investigation

Identify the recipe revision, batch and relevant characteristics supplied by the product specialist. Include particles or other features where applicable, together with the approved process conditions and waiting history. A water demonstration may help a limited mechanical observation but does not establish the behaviour of every beverage. State clearly when the actual product was unavailable and what remains unverified.

Do not obtain a generic operating value from a similar product name. The responsible specialist needs the real formulation and process envelope to review suitability. Where proprietary information is involved, agree an appropriate technical exchange rather than publishing it in a general inquiry. The commercial file should retain the identity and conditions needed to reproduce the test without inventing viscosity, temperature or particle data.

Match the package to the filling configuration

Record bottle article, drawing, neck finish, closure and actual package lot. Identify the filling arrangement and any relevant contact or positioning components through the equipment documentation. The same nominal volume is not a complete compatibility description. If the problem started after a bottle or format change, retain the former revision and the current setup reference for a specific comparison.

Examine the whole agreed route from fill to closing and inspection before attributing residue to cutoff. Keep samples from appropriate stages and name their origin. The service team should distinguish an event at the nozzle from a later transfer. Do not dismantle or modify a pressurised, moving or hygienic assembly on the basis of this checklist; authorised personnel follow the actual equipment procedure.

Preserve valve-level and event-level evidence

Associate samples with valve or filling position, time, speed and production phase. Include startup, stable operation and agreed restart conditions. A line-wide average can hide one repeated position, while a single position sample cannot describe a common product-supply event. Use the existing approved identification method and record uncertainty if the position cannot be reliably established.

Keep alarms, operator actions and recent maintenance with the same timeline. A proposed part replacement should identify the actual component and the evidence supporting its review. Do not specify an assumed seal material, nozzle geometry or control sequence from a generic web description. The useful service request shows what changed, where the symptom repeats and which conditions were held constant.

Compare an authorised correction with the baseline

Record the approved setup and the defined output before a change. Agree a representative trial, sample timing and rejection criteria. Change one planned factor where practical; identify unavoidable combined changes and limit the conclusion. Retain unsuccessful trials. This gives a future specialist a usable history instead of asking them to repeat adjustments whose results were never counted or whose product conditions are unknown.

Compare quantity conformity, good packages, unwanted product and required cleaning within the same boundary. A visually cleaner nozzle does not establish correct net content or acceptable downstream condition. A slower run may improve one symptom but reduce useful output. Ask what observation would support or reject the proposed mechanism, then use that answer to decide whether service, parts, controls or a different filling arrangement requires quotation.

Scope a retrofit without transferring unverified capabilities

Separate diagnosis, replacement parts, control changes, change parts and new equipment in the proposal. Ask which product and package combinations the option is intended to cover, how cleaning and maintenance interfaces change and which documentation is required. A feature available on a published specialist machine is not automatically available on the buyer's existing filler or included in an Allot Tech quotation.

State responsibilities for product supply, trial containers, installation, sanitation review, acceptance and training. Ask for exclusions and the operating conditions attached to any performance obligation. Do not buy a promised percentage loss reduction with no baseline. The eventual contract should describe the actual mechanism, confirmed configuration and evidence required to accept it, leaving untested products visibly outside the current result.

Close the review with a repeatable handover

Retain symptom definitions, original samples, product and package revisions, approved intervention and comparison results. Define who can change or restore the accepted setup and which checks follow maintenance or material substitution. A successful demonstration dependent on undocumented operator actions is not a complete handover. The final record should identify those actions and their approved status.

Allot Tech can coordinate the confirmed commercial and technical scope. This page is a procurement evidence framework, not a machine maintenance instruction or a product-quality release. If the symptom returns, compare it against the same position and event record before declaring that the entire previous conclusion failed or that all future production is covered. Preserve the limits of what was actually verified.

Worked review scenario

Hypothetical review: clean-looking nozzle, unchanged package rejects

A buyer tries an authorised change and sees fewer drops at the nozzle, but the finished-package rejection count does not improve. The team compares stage samples, quantity checks and the transfer timeline, keeping product and package unchanged. It asks whether the remaining residue is produced later and limits the accepted result to the symptom actually reduced. This is an illustrative decision sequence, not a customer result or a guarantee.

Prepare the request

Product

Recipe identity, batch, supplied characteristics and approved conditions.

Package

Bottle, neck, closure, material lots and format revisions.

Event

Position, timing, safe observation, operating phase and maintenance history.

Request

Service or retrofit boundary, material supply, comparison plan and release owners.

Technical reference and its limits

External technical references explain the context. They do not certify an Allot Tech machine or fabric, and their proprietary capabilities are not part of a quotation unless expressly confirmed.

Buyer questions

Is every wet bottle neck a dripping nozzle?

No. Identify the first stage and timing; splash or later transfer can require a different review.

Does a water trial prove behaviour with the beverage?

Only claim the conditions actually tested. The real product may need a separate agreed trial.

Should I order a universal anti-drip attachment?

Ask the specialist to confirm applicability to the actual filling arrangement and product.

Does better appearance prove acceptance?

Quantity, downstream package and the agreed product requirements remain part of the decision.
