Water Bottling Plant Utility Requirements
Build a machine-level schedule for electrical power, compressed air, process water, cooling, drainage, cleaning, peak demand, and site verification.
Water bottling plant utility requirements cannot be selected from line speed alone. The bottle-making method, water treatment process, filler, cleaning, labeling, packing, operating shifts, peak demand, redundancy, climate, and local infrastructure all affect the site. Buyers should ask every equipment supplier for a machine-level utility schedule and then reconcile the total project.

2. Separate connected load from operating demand
Connected electrical load is not the same as typical demand or startup peak. Ask suppliers to identify large motors, heaters, compressors, chillers, simultaneous-start assumptions, and power quality requirements. Record panel short-circuit, protection, cable, and grounding inputs for qualified local electrical design.
3. Treat compressed air as different systems
Instrument or machine air and PET blowing air may have very different pressure, quality, drying, storage, and energy requirements. Map each consumer and identify whether compressors, dryers, filters, receivers, cooling, condensate management, and distribution piping are included. Pressure at the compressor outlet is not proof of pressure at the machine during peak demand.
4. Reconcile water balance and recovery
Separate raw water, treated product water, rinse water, cleaning water, cooling makeup, reject streams, concentrate, backwash, and domestic use. Ask for normal and peak flows plus storage assumptions. Treatment recovery depends on the raw-water analysis, process design, operating conditions, and maintenance; do not accept a generic percentage without its basis.
5. Include cleaning and sanitation loads
CIP or sanitation can create peak demand for water, heating, chemicals, pumping, and drainage even when the production line is stopped. Record tank volumes, temperatures, return paths, sequence, concentration monitoring, chemical storage, ventilation, personnel protection, and waste handling as applicable.
6. Create a site utility acceptance record
- Required condition, measured condition, instrument, date, and measurement point.
- Normal and peak results while representative equipment is running.
- Pressure drop, voltage stability, temperature rise, and recurring alarms.
- Temporary supplies or deviations and the permanent correction plan.
- Release approval before performance testing.
Utility sizing and local code compliance require qualified engineers and the final supplier data. This page is a buyer-side information checklist, not a design calculation.
Questions buyers ask
Can utility demand be estimated from bottles per hour?
Only as a rough early screen. Final demand requires machine-level data, bottle formats, treatment process, blow molding, packing, operating mode, and peak-use assumptions.
Why are peak values important?
Cleaning, compressor loading, heater startup, simultaneous machine operation, and production changes can create short periods that exceed average demand and cause stops.
What should be requested with a quotation?
Request a utility table for every equipment item plus quality, pressure, temperature, flow, connected load, peak, connection, and responsibility information.
