Water Treatment System Guide for Bottled Water Plants
A buyer preparation guide for raw-water data, finished-water targets, treatment stages, storage, sanitation, instrumentation, and supplier quotations.
A water treatment quotation should begin with the actual raw-water source and the required finished-water target. A standard equipment list copied from another project may be unsuitable because borehole water, municipal water, surface water, and variable seasonal sources can have different treatment needs.
Information to prepare before quoting
- Raw-water source and recent laboratory analysis from a qualified local laboratory.
- Expected hourly and daily treated-water demand, including cleaning and process use.
- Target finished-water requirements for the destination market.
- Operating hours, recovery expectations, storage volume, and available room.
- Feed pressure, power supply, drainage, chemical handling, and operator capability.
Treatment stages are project-specific

The table describes discussion points, not a universal treatment prescription. The final process should be selected and validated by qualified water-treatment and local regulatory professionals using current test data.
Connect treatment capacity to line demand
The filling line’s headline output is not the only demand. Include product water, rinser use where applicable, cleaning, startup losses, laboratory use, and storage recovery time. Ask the supplier to show the capacity basis and whether tanks can buffer normal interruptions.
Request operating information
Before purchase, ask for a process flow diagram, equipment list, instrument list, utility consumption, consumables, expected maintenance, membrane and filter replacement basis, sanitation procedure, control philosophy, spare parts, and operator training scope.
Define monitoring and sampling points
Discuss which pressures, flows, conductivity values, tank levels, disinfection parameters, and alarms will be monitored and recorded. Confirm where raw water, intermediate water, and finished water can be sampled safely. The buyer’s quality plan should define laboratory testing and release criteria using applicable local requirements.
Review waste streams and operating cost
Treatment design affects reject water, backwash, spent filters, cleaning chemicals, energy use, and consumable replacement. Ask for estimated flows and replacement intervals based on the stated raw-water analysis and operating schedule. Local environmental and discharge requirements may affect the final plant design.
Acceptance evidence for water treatment
Agree which factory or site tests are realistic, which instruments require calibration evidence, and which finished-water results must come from a qualified laboratory. Record operating conditions when samples are taken. A single clear-water photo is not evidence that the system meets a chemical or microbiological target.
