Bottling Line Layout Drawing Checklist
Review production flow, access, hygiene, drainage, utilities, installation routes, maintenance space, revision control, and future expansion.
A bottling line layout drawing should do more than fit machine rectangles inside a building. It must connect people, materials, utilities, hygiene, maintenance, safety, installation, storage, and future changes. Buyers can use this checklist when reviewing supplier general-arrangement drawings with qualified local engineers and operations teams.
1. Control the drawing basis

2. Draw the production flow end to end
Show water or product treatment, container supply, rinsing/filling/capping, inspection, coding, labeling, packing, pallet or bundle handling, finished-goods movement, rejects, and waste. Identify accumulation and transfer points. A compact layout that ignores downstream storage or forklift routes can move the bottleneck outside the machinery.
3. Protect operation and maintenance access
- Operator stations, controls, sampling points, replenishment routes, and line observation.
- Door swings, guard opening, format change areas, tool carts, lubrication, and cleaning access.
- Motor, pump, filler, labeler, compressor, mold, electrical panel, and conveyor maintenance removal paths.
- Platforms, stairs, handrails, overhead access, lighting, ventilation, and escape routes.
- Space for temporary parts, change parts, chemicals, waste, and maintenance isolation.
4. Review hygiene and drainage with the process
Separate raw and finished-product risks as required by the product and site. Show floor slopes, drain channels, wet areas, chemical areas, hose stations, handwashing or gowning points where applicable, and routes that could carry contamination. Avoid placing sensitive panels, packaging materials, or dry operations where wash water and condensation will create recurring problems.
5. Coordinate utility routes
Map power, grounding, low- and high-pressure air, process water, cooling, steam if used, drainage, chemical lines, ventilation, and data. Identify overhead clearances, pipe supports, valve access, cable trays, utility isolation, and future connections. Coordinate supplier machine drops with the local utility design rather than letting both parties assume the other will adapt.
6. Plan installation and replacement paths
Check shipping package dimensions, container unloading, door sizes, turning radii, floor capacity, lifting points, crane or forklift access, and the order in which machines enter the building. Also consider how a large motor, tank, mold, or machine module will be removed years later.
7. Hold a multidisciplinary layout review
Invite operations, maintenance, quality, safety, utilities, warehouse, project engineering, and supplier representatives as relevant. Mark each comment with owner and status. Freeze a revision for quotation and another for construction; uncontrolled layout changes can alter conveyors, utilities, cable lengths, platforms, and installation cost.
Final building, fire, electrical, food-safety, occupational-safety, environmental, and accessibility requirements must be reviewed by qualified parties for the project location.

What drawing format should be requested?
Request a readable PDF plus an agreed editable CAD format when required by the project, with units, scale, tags, revision, and supplier reference files defined.
How much space should remain around machines?
There is no universal clearance. Use supplier operating and maintenance envelopes, local requirements, safe access, parts removal, cleaning, and material flow.
When should the layout be frozen?
Freeze a quotation basis before commercial comparison, then control later revisions through engineering, site, and supplier review before construction and installation.
