Bottling Line Factory Layout & Utilities Checklist
A practical checklist for process flow, equipment access, electrical power, compressed air, water, cooling, drainage, storage, and future expansion.
A bottling line layout is a production-flow and maintenance document, not only a drawing used to fit machines into a room. The buyer should connect raw materials, treatment, blowing or bottle supply, filling, labeling, packing, finished-goods movement, utilities, people, hygiene zones, and future access.
Send the supplier a usable site brief
- Building dimensions, columns, doors, clear height, floor levels, and restricted areas.
- Preferred material entry and finished-goods exit.
- Existing water, drainage, electrical, air, ventilation, and utility locations.
- Warehouse, laboratory, changing, maintenance, and spare-parts areas.
- Future capacity or SKU expansion expectations.

Protect access and maintainability
Check operator aisles, emergency exits, guard-door opening, electrical cabinet access, mold and change-parts handling, component removal paths, forklift movement, and lifting access for heavy parts. A machine that fits dimensionally may still be difficult to operate or maintain.
Review the process flow
Walk through the drawing as if the plant were running: packaging materials arrive, bottles or preforms move to the line, caps and labels are replenished, rejected materials are removed, finished packs accumulate, pallets leave, and maintenance teams reach equipment safely. Mark crossing points between people, forklifts, wet areas, and finished product.
Confirm local engineering
The machinery supplier can provide equipment loads and connection points, but local licensed professionals should confirm building structure, electrical protection, fire and life safety, drainage, environmental controls, food or beverage regulations, and permits for the destination country.
Run a formal layout review
Issue the drawing with a revision number and collect comments from production, maintenance, quality, warehouse, safety, construction, and the machinery supplier. Mark every unresolved interface: utility drop, drain, platform, door, pipe bridge, cable route, foundation, exhaust point, and responsibility boundary. Close comments before construction or equipment fabrication makes changes expensive.
Check installation and delivery access
Confirm crate dimensions, equipment weights, container unloading method, route from the unloading point to the final position, door and corridor clearances, floor capacity, lifting points, and temporary storage. Large tanks, fillers, compressors, or packers may fit in the final room but not through the planned access route.
Leave space for real operation
Layouts should reserve space for packaging-material staging, rejects, quality sampling, sanitation tools, change parts, spare parts, waste removal, and finished-product accumulation. Also consider whether future capacity increases require longer conveyors, another packer, larger utility equipment, or additional storage.
